Davis Trackhire invest in trackway stockholding fleet
Davis Trackhire has significantly increased it’s heavy-duty Trackway stockholding with an additional investment of 2,000 brand new aluminium DTH Panels.
Following a record-breaking year in 2022, this significant stockholding investment will see the business kick off 2023 with over 100,000 square metres of portable roadway consisting of:
- 11,500 heavy-duty aluminium DTH Panels
- 850 heavy-duty composite Tufftrak Panels
- 6,000 light duty composite DTH Mats
To put this into context, this is enough to cover the playing surface at Wembley Stadium 8 times over – or if laid end-to-end, the height of 5 Mount Everests!
Made from UK-sourced T6-grade aluminium and constructed in-house at our Newmains head office using locally-sourced labour, the majority of the new panels are already in circulation and providing access for our valued customers.
The investment doesn’t end in our stockholding, with the business expecting 3 brand new installation vehicles to hit the road in early Spring 2023.
In line with the existing fleet, the Scania R460 rigids will boast front and rear air suspension, steering tag axles as well as electric steering axle with 200kg less kerb weight, resulting in up to 8% better fuel efficiency. Each truck will also come complete with state-of-the-art rear-mounted crane with clamp attachment and on-board welfare units containing shower, toilet and drying room facilities – of which the layout has been amended following feedback from our road crews.
The three trucks will also be trialled with “remote driving technology” which will allow our operators to manoeuvre the vehicle via a remote control, negating the need for them to repeatedly climb in and out of their cab. This will lead to increased all-round visibility, site safety and productivity during installations and recoveries.
We will monitor the performance of these new trucks closely and continue to gather feedback from our crews, and should the results meet our expectations then we hope to roll out these amendments to the rest of the fleet.”
