Davis Trackhire welcomes two new Project Engineers this Spring
As peak season gets underway and projects ramp up across the UK, Davis Trackhire is pleased to welcome new and familiar faces into key operational roles within the business. This spring has already seen positive growth across the team, with an internal promotion and a new industry hire strengthening the company’s site engineering capability.
These appointments reflect Davis Trackhire’s continued investment in experienced people who understand the practical, on-site realities of delivering safe and efficient trackway and ground protection solutions for customers across multiple sectors.
Ian Doughty promoted to Project Engineer
Ian Doughty has been promoted from Senior Driver Operator into the role of Project Engineer earlier this month. Ian’s progression within the business is a great example of Davis Trackhire’s willingness to invest in it’s people and promote from within, and how hands-on experience and in-depth operational knowledge can naturally evolve into a technical, customer-facing engineering role.
With almost two decades of experience within the Portable Roadway industry which began in 2008 as a driver’s mate, progressing through roles including Driver Operator and Lead Driver Operator, Ian brings a detailed understanding of how projects run in real conditions ensure installations are delivered safely, efficiently and exactly to specification. This background gives him a practical edge when planning and supporting projects for our clients.
Thomas Wright Joins the Team
Thomas Wright also joins Davis Trackhire this week as Project Engineer, bringing with him over 12 years of experience in the trackway industry. Having worked on and managed a number of high-profile contracts, Tom has extensive knowledge of site operations, customer requirements and project planning.
His appointment further strengthens Davis Trackhire’s project delivery capability and reinforces the company’s commitment to providing reliable, high-quality trackway solutions tailored to each client’s needs. Tom’s move from a leading competitor also reflects Davis Trackhire’s ongoing focus on attracting and recruiting the very best talent from across the industry, ensuring clients benefit from unrivalled expertise and experience at every stage of a project.
Strengthening the engineering team
Both Ian and Tom now join Phill Wright’s engineering team, further strengthening Davis Trackhire’s technical and operational support for customers nationwide. Their combined experience, both from within the business and from across the wider industry, enhances the company’s ability to plan, survey and deliver projects to the highest standards.
These appointments ensure that customers continue to receive knowledgeable, practical support from engineers who understand both the planning and the real-world execution of trackway installations.

Thomas joins us from outside the organisation, bringing with him industry experience gained since 2014. His background within the sector provides a strong foundation in project planning and site operations.
